What a Cute Little Mess!

So I had an extremely busy day today. I was making cookies for the preschool open house and of course Michael was scavengering the floor for any lost chocolate chips. He managed to find a couple and eat them. I decided to give him a few more in his high chair (ok, I know it's really unhealthy to be feeding a 10 month old chocolate, but I just couldn't resist at the time). I finished baking the cookies and when I looked back at Michael a few minutes later, this is what I found...

I LOVE THE OLYMPICS!!!

Now that the Olympics are over I can go to bed a little earlier! Steve and I watched faithfully almost every night of the two weeks that the olympics were on, not wanting to miss any exciting moments. We did however miss the opening ceremonies, and then most of the closing ceremonies because our power was out for over 3 hours on Sunday night!

I loved moments like:

**The Men's 4x100 Swim Relay where it seemed impossible that they would win when Jason Lezak was behind by an entire body length at 50 meters. We were SCREAMING at the television as we watched him catch up and beat the French!

**Dara Torres winning silver at 41 years old--man she looks awesome!

**Usain Bolt winning both the 100 & 200 meter races and looking like it wasn't even hard!

**Watching an entire marathon on tv. Pathetic, I know...but it was so cool to see the woman win her marathon at age 37 by more than a minute. It gave me the chills to see her run through the stadium all by herself to the finish line with 91,000 people watching from the Bird's Nest.

**Watching the American sprinter literally DIVE at the end of his race to get the Bronze medal.

Well, another 2 years we'll have to wait!

Enjoying Summer at Cherry Hill

We have had many fun, sun filled days at Cherry Hill this summer. Kaitlyn and Michael especially love "Pirate's Cove" and of course eating peanut butter & jam sandwiches. Kaitlyn can now go down the little slides in Pirate's Cove all by herself.

Family Camping Trip in Big Cottonwood Canyon

We had our first annual Dahl summer camping trip. We went up Big Cottonwood Canyon to the Spuces campground and camped in tents.

We drove up to the top of the canyon and walked around the lake.

We played by the river...
Todd brought along his Dutch Oven skills and we made dinner: chicken w/bacon, potatoes w/bacon, and cobbler. YUMMY--I can feel my arteries clogging right now!

Of course you can't see something like this and not jump off of it!

Kaitlyn always loves getting thrown into the air by her daddy!

We ended the camping trip with a hike up to Donut Falls. Kaitlyn walked most of the way and never complained! She always wanted to hold Grandma's hand! The water was super cold when we had to walk through it to get up closer, but it was a lot of fun and very beautiful.
