With Christmas just 3 days before her birthday, Kate was a pro at unwrapping presents. She was very careful to take off small sections of wrapping paper, and then crinkle and throw each piece before noticing what the gift was inside.

MTC Day for Mike & Jon!

My brothers, Mike and Jon went into the MTC today. They are both going to Argentina missions, Mike to Cordoba and Jon to Buenos Aires South. Being there in the MTC sending them off brought back so many memories of my own mission. I can't believe Kaitlyn will be almost 4 years old when they get back, and Michael will be 2! I know they will be great missionaries, and I'm so excited for all the wonderful experiences that await them. If anyone wants to write them or send something while they are in the MTC (they'll be there until beginning of January) here are their addresses:

The Dahl Siblings
Mike and Jon's missionary "farewells" were today. They seemed so grown up as they spoke about life experiences they've had that have helped prepare them to go on a mission. I will miss them a lot!

Kate's Hair Feddish!
Kate loves dolls and hair...Here is a before and after picture of the same doll.

Kate loves to play with her doll's hair. She loves her mom's hair, too. Now I know why I have so many split ends!As soon as Kaitlyn finds some hair, she has one hand clenching the hair,
and the other hand's thumb is in her mouth.
Most kids like blankets...Kaitlyn loves hair!
After only a couple months, Kaitlyn's doll was sporting dreadlocks. I put the dreads in a ponytail to try and keep it under some control, and when I took the ponytail out the hair just stayed in the same shape. It's completely nasty and gross.
We bought her a new doll, but for some reason I still feel guilty throwing her first doll away!

Michael's Baby Blessing

Today Michael was blessed by Steve. It was a beautiful blessing. We enjoyed having family and friends over after church for soup, rolls, and cookies. Looking at the kitchen with 5 crockpots of soup, rolls, and 8 dozen cookies, Steve commented that there was way too much food. However, three hours later there was not a cookie, a cup of soup, or a roll to be found!

Halloween Night

Kate had fun trick-or-treating as a butterfly. We went to Scott & Pennie's house to trick-or-treat and she proceeded to fill up her entire candy bucket one piece of candy at a time. She also enjoyed running to the door when the doorbell rang to pass out candy. Little Michael is already a month old (a little too young for trick-or-treating) and is starting to smile. What a cutie!

Kate Can Count!
A few weeks ago we realized that Kate had been hiding a talent that she now has revealed! She can count to four! Steve was reading a book with her one night when the conversation went something like this:
Steve: "One"
Kate: "Two"
Steve: "Two"
Kate: "Three"
Steve: "Three"
Kate: "Four"
I have to admit that was a "proud mom" moment for me. I guess all that counting and reading really is paying off! We caught it on video...take a look! We're still working on getting her to say the number "five", but she does say "six"!

A New Idea with Family Trees...

One of our favorite things in our home is the family tree poster similar to this one that LeAnn made for us for our wedding. We thought it would be cool to use this same family tree idea but with a picture behind the names. So with the help of my brother-in-law Todd, and of course LeAnn, I am now making "new" family tree wall hangings that have pictures in the background. This is the one I made one for my parents' 30th wedding anniversary and I think it turned out really nice. It's 2ft. x 3ft. and it includes 6 generations of names, birth and marriage dates. This one has a picture in the background of the St. George Temple where my parents were married. If you know anyone that's interested in having one made, please let me know!!

New Arrival...

Our baby boy Michael entered the world on October 1st. He's a handsome little guy weighing in at 6 lbs. 9 oz. and measuring 20 inches. He was born at 4:33 p.m.
Michael Steven Terry was born at Davis Hospital in Layton, Utah and was delivered by Dr. Duane Farley. I was induced six days early and the delivery went really well...I was in labor for about 6 hours. Michael's right ear is not fully developed, so we will be doing some testing for that. Also he has an enlarged kidney, but the tests came back saying that there are no problems. Steve wanted to name our little baby after his younger brother, Michael, who passed away when he was 17. Our little Michael has blue eyes and red hair just like his sister did!
