Scrapbooking Stories

I finally finished some pages! I had to make this page TWICE because I didn't save it the right way! Oh well. The template is from Purple Tulip Designs and the paper is from Shabby Shoppe. I scrapped this all from my blog post a couple weeks ago. I'm thinking about scrapping my blog but I think it will take FOREVER!!

Kate Sings "Mamma Mia"

We went to Sam's Club today and Kaitlyn was singing "Mamma Mia" while I was pushing her down the isles in the cart. Here she is at home singing it!

Slam Dunk Contest

We went to my parents house Saturday night and watched the NBA Slam Dunk Contest (I think this is becoming a yearly tradition). Keep in mind that Nate Robinson is 5'7" (that's my height) and he is jumping OVER Dwight Howard who is 6'11".

Valentine's Weekend

Valentine's weekend began with Kaitlyn's preschool party! We had a lot of fun decorating cookies, passing out valentines, and playing games.

We had planned to go out for a Valentine's date on Friday the 13th but Natalie and Jon ended up coming to our house Friday and Saturday. We had a lot of fun playing Jon's new "Guitar Hero" game on the XBox that he won! I've never been one to want a gaming system around, but that really is a lot of fun! Kaitlyn and Michael even got out the little pink guitar and played along.

Saturday night we went to my parents house for the annual NBA Slam Dunk Contest. Nate Howard who is 5'7" won! On his last dunk he jumped over his competitor, Dwight Howard (who won last year) and is 6'11" to dunk!

Kaitlyn and cousin Brooklyn watched "Toy Story" and ate mini sandwiches in grammy's bedroom.

Draper Temple Open House

Today was a really special day...we went to the new Draper Temple open house. We dropped Michael off at my mom's house and went with Lori, Todd, and Brooklyn. We invited our neighbors, Debbie and Joe, to come with us so they met us there. They're not members but we thought maybe they'd enjoy it so Steve was brave and invited them to come and they were all for it!
The temple was so beautiful. One of the first things we saw was the baptismal font. Kaitlyn asked if it was a swimming pool. I told her no, it's where you get baptized. Then she said, "Am I 8 yet?"
When we walked into the Bride's room the sun was coming through the stain glass window and it was so beautiful! Debbie even said that if she had a daughter she'd want her to get ready there on her wedding day!
The celestial room was amazing with the tallest ceiling I've ever seen along with the biggest chandelier I've ever seen. It was neat to walk into the sealing room where they sat us down for just a couple minutes and a married couple bore there testimonies of eternal families. Then we were able to look into the eternal mirrors that go forever. I could totally feel the spirit, and Debbie gave me a big hug and said, "Thank you so much for inviting us." I think she felt the spirit, too.
It was a really neat experience to walk through with a couple who had never been in a temple before. I was really thankful to have a missionary moment and share what's so special to me. I feel so blessed to have been sealed in the temple of the Lord and to have all the blessings that come with it.
After we went through the temple they had us go into a chapel where there was pictures of other temples and refreshments. Debbie suggested that we take a picture in front of Jesus. Kaitlyn really enjoyed the bus ride back to the parking lot where our car was. We got the front seat and she leaned over it and said, "Weeeee" whenever we went downhill. She's been wanting to ride a bus for some time now, so that was pretty cool for her.

Valentine's Dinner Dance

We had our 2nd annual ward Valentine's dinner dance tonight. We sat at the same table with the Woods, Parkins, and Tanners and had a great time! It was fun to laugh together, eat together, and dance together!

New Do!

I finally did it--I chopped my hair today! I've been thinking about it since last summer and finally decided to go through with it!
So here's what it looked like yesterday...

Here's the picture I wanted it to look like...
And here's how it turned out...

When Brandee cut it I was hoping to have enough to donate it to Locks of Love. She put it into a ponytail in the back and then one on each side of my head. They were very loose pontails, but the back one she cut off was 10 inches, which is the requirement for Locks of Love! I think in all she probably cut about a foot off in the back! It feels so good and light! I hope I can make it look as good as Brandee styled it when I have to do it on my own! Now I need to go invest in a straightener!

Teaching Preschool Again Next Year?

I have decided to teach preschool again next year! I have really enjoyed doing it this year. I have the cutest kids in my class and it's been fun having Kaitlyn come with me too. It's been nice to use my teaching skills in an organized setting.
