I Really Need to Write That Down...

A few days ago I asked Kaitlyn if she would like a hot dog for lunch. With excitement in her voice she exclaimed, "Puppies...lunch!" (Feb 2008)

I was watching TV with Kaitlyn last night (she wasn't going to bed) and flipping channels between "The Biggest Loser" and "American Idol". I changed the channel to "American Idol" and she says, "I wanna watch 20 pounds." (April 8, 2008)

Kaitlyn was upstairs with Steve last night. There's a scale in our bathroom that she loves to stand on and watch the numbers appear. Well last night Steve said she stood on the scale, put her arms up in the air and exclaimed, "I lost twenty pounds!" (March 14, 2008)

Kaitlyn loves to put her meanest scowling face on (which is still way too cute), tilt her head forward, and say, "No Smilin' About It!" (March 2008)

Kaitlyn will be walking around having nothing to do with Cinderella (although her mind must be thinking about her quite a bit) when she'll exclaim, "Oh no! Cinderella's dress ripped! Darn!" She's referring to the part in the movie where the step sisters rip Cinderella's dress apart. She probably says this at least once a week. (April 2008)

Whenever we tell Kaitlyn that she needs to take a bath she says, "I poop in the bathtub". Yes, she has done this twice! Hopefully we don't have anymore encounters of brown floaties in the bathtub! (April 2008)

I (Heidi) was in the dressing room trying some jeans on. Kaitlyn was with me and as I was looking in the mirror trying to decide if they fit or not, Kaitlyn out of the blue says, "Chick-a-bam!" I guess that's a good sign? I have NO idea where she got that saying from. (December 2008)

Kaitlyn loves to play with her princess tea set that she got for Christmas. Sometimes I'll let her play with some water to pour into the cups. It usually ends up spilled on the table. One day she asked if she could have water for her tea set and I told her no because I didn't want a mess. She replied, "We won't use water today because it makes a mess. We'll just pretend to make a mess." (January 2009)

Kaitlyn: "Mom, you have pretty hair. I have busy hair." (January 2009)

Kaitlyn will ask Steve where he is going in the mornings which he usually tells her, "I'm going to work." She has started responding in a very sweet voice with, "Dad, you gotta stop doin' that!" (May 2009)

Kaitlyn and I were at preschool and all the kids were sitting at the table during snack time talking to each other. One of the boys made some random comment that wasn't too exciting, just 3 and 4 year old chatter. Kaitlyn quickly turned to him and said, "You are KIDDING me!" She continued to do this to the next 3 preschoolers that shared comments with the rest of the class. (May 2009)

While Kaitlyn and Michael were helping me put up the Christmas tree this year I was telling them that the reason we have Christmas is to celebrate Jesus' birthday. Kaitlyn kept looking at all the ornaments and saying, "Baby Jesus is going to love our tree!" Then she sweetly said, "What are we going to get for Jesus for his birthday?" (Dec 2009)

The kids slept in a tent upstairs together tonight. I told them they needed to go right to bed and there was to be no talking. Of course about a half hour later I could hear some whispering so I stood at the top of the stairs and this is what I caught:
Kaitlyn: "Michael, try not to suck your thumb ok."
Michael: "Ohay" (Michael has never sucked his thumb)
Kaitlyn: "Good night Michael"
Michael: "Good Night"
Kaitlyn: "Wanna give me a kiss Mike?"
Michael: "Ohay"
(pause)
Kaitlyn: "Oh Michael, you kinda need to wipe your nose."

Kaitlyn (with a heartfelt & concerned voice): "Dad, I REALLY want to go to work with you...but your work is boring".

Michael & Kaitlyn stayed at my mom & dad's house while I delivered Logan. My mom (Grammy) would say to Michael, "You're my honey bunch" and Michael would reply with, "I'm not a bunch!" (March 2010)

Michael: "Mom, can I be hungry now?" (He asks for chicken nuggets around 10 am everyday!)

I told Michael he needed to write a letter to Santa to ask him for the train he wanted. He kept reminding me every day to help him write his letter. When I asked what he was going to write in his letter he said, "M". Well, that is the "letter" his name starts with! (Dec 2010)
